Welcome to ABCT Addictive Behaviors SIG
The Addictive Behaviors Special Interest Group of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies provides a professional home for researchers, clinicians, mental health professionals, students, and trainees interested in substance use, addictive behaviors, and related clinical and public health concerns.
Our SIG supports communication, collaboration, mentorship, and professional development among ABCT members whose work focuses on the etiology, assessment, prevention, treatment, and broader health and behavioral impacts of addictive behaviors. Areas of interest include substance use and substance use disorders, intervention and treatment, harm reduction, mechanisms that maintain addictive behaviors, health behavior change, risk and resilience, and related clinical and research topics.
Through our annual SIG meeting, poster opportunities, awards, newsletter, listserv, and social media platforms, we aim to foster connection among members, highlight student and trainee work, recognize contributions to the field, and support active involvement in ABCT throughout the year.
